We accept WellCare for families across North Carolina. Most sessions take place at home or at your child's school, and our team handles the benefits check and authorization paperwork before therapy starts.
WellCare of North Carolina merged into Carolina Complete Health on 1 April 2026, and members moved across automatically with the same benefits. If you are looking for WellCare coverage, that page is the one to read.
Charlotte is home to our only clinic. In-home and school-based ABA reaches 50 cities and 19 counties across North Carolina, from Asheville to Wilmington.
Not as a separate plan. WellCare of North Carolina merged into Carolina Complete Health on April 1, 2026. Members moved across automatically, kept their benefits and did not need to reapply. We keep this page up because families still hold cards with the WellCare name on them and search for it.
Nothing urgent. Your coverage sits with Carolina Complete Health now and ABA is covered exactly as before. Tell us when you call and we will verify the benefit under the right plan β you do not need a new card in hand before we start.
For most families on WellCare, nothing. Medicaid does not carry the deductibles and coinsurance that commercial insurance does. If your plan applies any cost-sharing at all, you get the figure in writing before the first session rather than on a bill after it.
Yes. WellCare funds ABA on the basis of an autism diagnosis from a qualified provider. If your child has already been evaluated, that report is usually enough. If you are still waiting on an evaluation, call us anyway and we will tell you what the plan will need.
That comes out of the assessment rather than a fixed rule, and any provider quoting a number before meeting your child is guessing. A comprehensive program commonly runs 25 to 40 hours a week; a focused program targeting specific skills usually runs 10 to 25. You will know the approved figure before sessions start.
We appeal, and we write the appeal. A denial is usually about documentation or the number of hours rather than whether your child qualifies for ABA at all. North Carolina gives you the right to appeal and to ask that services continue while it is decided. We prepare the clinical justification ourselves, and we will tell you honestly if we think an appeal is unlikely to succeed.
Yes, and in most cases it should. WellCare covers ABA in each setting on the same basis. Many families use a combination and change the balance as their child progresses.
